Who should use Magento?
Magento is a rich, full-featured Ecommerce platform, with a plethora of useful
and innovative functions, many of which are not available or as well thought
out relative to other platforms. As such, there has been a tremendous demand
for Magento customization and implementation services.
Magento is for you if:
- You are, or want to be, on the cutting edge. You are willing to be on the forefront of creativity and development, but also aware of the risks associated with being on the edge.
- You have a contingency budget for modifying or creating new modules in the event that the stock Magento modules need to be customized for your needs.
- You are willing to endure Magento's learning curve, especially if you have in-house staff that will take the reigns of development subsequent to the hand-off of code from our team to yours. Like any powerful, complicated tool, Magento requires training in the areas of development, as well as in adminstering the Ecommerce site (updating/adding product information, prices, tax settings, etc.).
Magento is still a relatively new platform, and the platform is in a constant cycle of continuous improvement. However, it still remains as one of our top recommendations for open-source Ecommerce platforms.
Pricing for Magento development services
Although pricing varies from project to project due to the nature of
custom development, below are starting prices for the services we offer.
Magento Template development (a.k.a. "theming" or "skinning"): $4000 +
What it includes:
- Client is responsible for providing layered Photoshop designs. If you do not have designs and you need our assistance, please note that when contacting us.
- Template creation for 1 homepage and 3 subpages (category, product, and product detail page). Additional pages will be charged at $300/template. For large volumes, please contact us for discounted pricing.
What it includes:
- Install Magento on your server
- Configure settings such as taxes, shipping, etc.
- Set up products (either import an existing list of products or input products directly through admin area)
- Integrate payment processing for existing modules such as Authorize.net, Payflow Pro. For other payment methods, prices will vary.
Magento Custom Module Development: $5000 +
What it includes:
- Client provides requirements and wireframes for the custom module. If no such documents have been created, you can contract us to prepare them on your behalf
- Custom developed module, fully tested and delivered.

The Company
Rosie Pope Maternity was formed to celebrate women and the joyous experience
of their pregnancies. They offer an array of fashion that, until now, has never
been offered to pregnant women, including a collection that features a range
of designs, from tailored and evening glamour, to Haute Couture for those looking
for the rare and unique.
The Challenge
Rosie Pope Maternity needed a website and branding that differentiated their
luxury offering from other Maternity sites, while keeping the site search-engine
friendly and aesthetically pleasing.
The Solution
#10 created an eCommerce website using open-source technologies (Magento), featuring
hundreds of maternity clothing ranging from casual dresses and trousers to business
attire and evening wear. The site also showcases its flagship store in SOHO,
NYC, by employing Flash animation to tell a story about the brand.
